The Impact of the Superstress Condition

One, your stress is compounded. That is, you have more than one thing that causes stress for you. Two, your life feels out of control. You just can’t seem to get a handle on it. Three, anxious is your new normal. And four, you’ve lost luster and joy. You just can’t seem to recover the things that make you excited about your life.
   
The next part of Superstress is that you can’t recover. It’s really a state where your body is completely exhausted. And some people actually feel they aren’t having any stress because they aren’t experiencing anxiety or depression.

About 50% of the people who walk into my practice actually have stress related symptoms-but they’re all physical. By that, I mean they might have headaches, neck pain, loss of sex drive, or brain fog. We’ll do a very thorough workup to make sure they aren’t having any form of dementia or Alzheimers’ in the early phase. What I will find out after doing a detailed history or having them take the test (in the Superstress Solution) is that they’re stressed. A lot of people are surprised about that.

This kind of stress does not know age. I’m an internist so I see adults, and 20 years ago I would mostly see people in their 5th, 6th, or 7th generation. What I’m seeing now, which is really quite disturbing, is that I’m getting 18 year olds, 19 year olds, 20 year olds with extreme exhaustion that they can’t recover from. This is a very pervasive kind of stress, in other words: it’s a pandemic that people don’t realize that they’re experiencing.
