Prostate Cancer Effectively Treated with Botanical Formula
The researchers conducted experiments in mice using a model for human prostate cancer. This is the third study of its kind that has reported significant findings of this particular multi-nutrient prostate formula and its capacity to battle the invasive behavior of prostate cancer cells, tumor growth, and metastasis.
Lead author of the study, Dr. Daniel Sliva, claims, "Multiple studies demonstrate that this prostate formula is a possible treatment for hormone refractory (androgen independent) prostate cancer."
The study findings indicate that this botanical formula greatly inhibited tumor growth in aggressive, hormone refractory, androgen independent human-prostate cancer cells. Once researchers evaluated the formula’s potential toxicity, it was found to be safe, with no indications of toxicity even at the highest dosages.
The study involved the use of a xenograft tumor model of human prostate cancer in mice and revealed that when compared to controls, oral use of the formula resulted in a statistically significant suppression of 27% of tumor growth.
What was found to be of even greater importance was the formula suppressed the expression of several key genes responsible for cancer proliferation and metastasis. The formula was also observed to substantially increase the expression of a key gene that fights prostate cancer by inhibiting other cancer strengthening cellular mechanisms.
The formula’s capacity to suppress specific genes that are associated with prostate cancer growth and spread, and the enhancement of cancer-fighting genes, indicates that this integrative formula has multiple anti-cancer mechanisms and genetic targets.
Dr. Sliva concludes that, “In summary, this dietary supplement is a natural compound for the possible therapy of human hormone refractory (independent) prostate cancer."
