Misconceptions People Have about Weight: Daniel Davis, DO, FACS
This is often a common finding that we see in the United States. Patients often feel that they are not a risk for obesity related diseases because they feel they are of normal weight and don't feel that they are obese, or morbidly obese. It often comes as a surprise to them.
My practice focuses on weight lost surgery. Patients who seek me out have come to the realization that they must do something about their weight. They often bring with them friends who are also obese and candidates for weight-loss surgery. Sometimes they will argue with me that their friends are not candidates. It’s kind of funny how often I see this. Often it is the friend of someone, who is coming for weight loss surgery who has a misconception about their own weight.
