Prostate cancer is cancer that develops in the prostate. The condition tends to develop in men over the age of fifty and although it is one of the most prevalent types of cancer in men, men rarely die from the cancer. This is because the cancer is in majority of cases slow-growing and has little or no symptoms. Many factors including genetics and diet have been implicated to be a cause but there has been no certain conclusions made. Prostate is least common in South and East Asia and is more common in Europe and most common in the United States. According to the American Cancer Society, prostate cancer is least common among Asian men and most common among black men, with white men lying in between. These figures may be affected by an increased rate of detection in some countries.
