The National Cancer Institute reports that in 2007 more than 28,700 people with a past diagnosis of esophageal cancer were living. Included in that number were more than 21,000 men and 6,500 women. According to the American Cancer Society, more than 104,000 new cases of colon and rectal cancer will be diagnosed in 2010. Nearly 103,000 new cases of colon cancer and 40,000 cases of rectal cancer will be diagnosed this year. Approximately 49,000 men and 53,000 women will get colon cancer. Of the 40,000 new cases of rectal cancer diagnosed some 22,000 will be men and 17,000 will be women. For both men and women, colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer diagnosed today.

Endometrial cancer, commonly called uterine cancer, is the most common female reproductive tract adenocarcinoma. Incidence rate for the cancer is estimated at 188,000 women globally. Women in developed countries are at greater risk of developing the disease than those in underdeveloped nations. In 2009, uterine cancer accounted for more than 35,000 new cases and greater than 7,000 deaths in the United States. Uterine cancer affects the uterus the primary female reproductive organ, which fosters a baby during pregnancy.
