Migraines Affect Mostly Women

Headaches affect roughly 45 million people in the United States. Of those people, migraine headaches are the most common type of headache that sends patients to their doctor's office. Migraines occur when constricting blood vessels in the brain cause intense, recurring vascular headaches. Like other forms of headaches, women suffer from migraines more often than men. The Cause of Chronic Tension Headaches

Poor posture is at the root of chronic tension headaches. An article written by holistic care author Doug Fogel explains how having a tight neck, shoulders, and upper back contribute to chronic tension headaches. He says the tension is caused by poor posture and/or accident-related trauma. Conventional treatments like pain medication have little effect on long term relief. The only way to relieve symptoms is to treat the cause of the tension and address instances of poor posture.

They’re painful, they’re debilitating, but could migraines also be deadly? New research says that at least one in five migraine sufferers, if not more, are at an increased risk of death. At the age of 35, Hailey McDad is one of them. That’s because she suffers from migraines with aura. “My hands will tingle, my finger tips will tingle, and I see blurry vision, so I know right away I have to medicate myself, so those are my warning signs,” says Hailey.

Health Wrap: Studies on Botox, Migraines and Drinking

Researchers have discovered a novel way to increase the potency of Botox, which would translate into less frequent injections and perhaps even enhancing its cosmetic benefits, and it might mean lower prices for the popular wrinkle-remover. In a medical setting, small doses of the Botox toxin causes localized, temporary paralysis that erases wrinkles and unwanted muscle spasms. The researchers developed a synthetic molecule that can ‘super-activate’ the neurotoxin, thereby increasing the toxin’s paralyzing effect by as much as 14 times that of the untreated toxin.

Contact point headaches are a source of intense pain for a number of people. “The chronic daily headache pain was like a tight skull cap. M.S. and Alzheimers Drug

Taking a drug used for Alzheimer’s disease may help deal with the memory loss experienced by people with multiple sclerosis, according to a study published in the medical journal Neurology. The finding could help the large percentage, nearly fifty percent of MS patients, who suffer from cognitive problems.
