About Lawrence Hospital Center | Outpatient ServicesPhysical Medicine & Rehabilitation Lawrence Hospital Center offers a variety of services and therapies designed to evaluate and treat problems affecting movement and function. Whether you have been injured in an accident or suffered a sports injury, our experienced therapists can give you the expert care you need to heal and resume your normal activities. Among our services: Physical Therapy Physical therapists are experts in the evaluation and treatment of musculoskeletal and neuromuscular problems affecting mobility and function. Key elements in physical therapy treatment are therapeutic exercise and functional training. Our therapists have specialized training in manual therapy that incorporates a variety of modalities and exercise equipment, plus an array of massage and mobilization techniques. Each therapy program is customized to your unique physical capabilities and challenges. In addition to compassionate, "hands on" care, our therapists spend time educating you about your diagnosis to help you fully understand your injury. Occupational Therapy/Hand Therapy Hand injuries require highly specialized care. Our team of knowledgeable and experienced occupational therapists includes certified hand therapists dedicated to the rehabilitation of the hand and arm. All programs are customized to meet the patient's unique needs and may encompass static and dynamic splinting, therapeutic exercise programs, patient education, and training in activities of daily living. Speech/Language Therapy The Speech/Language Pathology Department provides rehabilitation services to assist people with communication and swallowing disorders. We offer state-of-the-art video fluoroscopic swallowing studies, clinical swallowing evaluations, and treatment programs for patients with dysphagia. Lymphedema Treatment Two physical therapists who are lymphedema-certified in the Norton School of Lymphedema Therapy conduct lymphedema treatment. Our therapists provide skin care, manual lymph drainage, multilayered bandaging, evaluation for compression garments, patient education, and an exercise program. Physiatrist Services Our staff includes four board-certified physiatrists who provide consultation, electromyography, pain management, and acupuncture.
