About CUMC Aortic Surgery Program
Dr. Allen Stewart is the Director of the Aortic Surgery Program, and an attending surgeon at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center. His clinical specialties include aortic root replacement, aortic arch surgery, endovascular repair and connective tissue disorders. He is also assistant professor of surgery at Columba University College of Physicians and Surgeons. A graduate of St. Peters college, Dr. Stewart got his medical degree from University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey where he graduated with A.O.A. honors. He started his residency in the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, and finished it in 2004 at the Columbia University Medical Center. Throughout his education and carrier he has pursued research in the fields of aortic root surgery, advanced circulatory management, and percutaneous valve therapy in order to stay up to date on the latest medical developments. Currently he%u2019s a member of American Board of Thoracic Surgery and American Board of Surgery. During his carrier Dr. Stewart has received many awards and accolades including the Walton Lillehei Young Investigator Award, Surgical Scholar Award and is a part of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Some of his published work has been featured in the Journal of Heart and Lung Transplantation, Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery and the American Society of Gene Therapy. ![]()
