Dr. Andrew Silverman graduated from Medical School and also completed a Doctorate in Microbiology at the State University of New York in Buffalo, NY. Afterwards, he completed a year-long Medical Internship at the University of Michigan.
He was chosen to serve as a research associate at the National Cancer Institute at the National Institutes of Health. He then went on to complete his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at McGill University in Montreal Canada.
He was an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Texas in San Antonio. There, he became interested in reproductive health issues and wanted to follow sub-specialty training in reproductive endocrinology. After he finished his training, he served as Director of the In-Vitro Fertilization program there.
Dr. Silverman started his own private practice in 1984 after his family moved to New York. He has been involved with his private practice in Manhattan and Westchester County ever since. Dr. Silverman created the first free standing IVF center in the Northeast, and was responsible for the first IVF pregnancy outside of a University Hospital unit.
Then, in 1987, Dr. Silverman looked into Dr. Ronald J. Ericsson's work with Gender Selection. After he studied with Dr. Ericsson, Dr. Silverman began offering Dr. Ericsson's Method of gender selection is his patients as an option. This procedure is designed to increase the chances of a couple having a child of their desired sex.
Dr. Silverman uses his experience and valuable expertise with in vitro fertilization, and now, he is offering his patients in vitro fertilization with preimplantation genetic diagnosis (IVF/PGD). This is extremely effective for family balancing because in this process, only embryos of the desired gender are transferred to the mother's uterus.
Dr. Silverman only practices gynecology, fertility and gender selection.
