About Performance Rehabilitation & Sports Injury Center

The mission at Performance Rehabilitation and Sports Injury Center is to provide the highest quality multidisciplinary rehabilitation services to their patients. They believe that the best care of the spine and extremities comes from a multidisciplinary approach and are committed to improving their patient's health. The vision, passion, and driving force of Performance Rehabilitation and Sports Injury Center comes from its clinic director, Ron Spiaggia, DC and Paul Abend, DO, medical director.

Dr. Spiaggia is a Board Certified chiropractic physician credentialed by the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners, and licensed to practice in the state of New Jersey. Ronald Spiaggia, DC has a Bachelor of Science Degree from Montclair State University, Montclair, NJ. He received his Doctor of Chiropractic Degree, with honors, from the New York Chiropractic College, Seneca Falls, NY. Dr. Spiaggia's expertise falls in the area of conservative, non-surgical treatment of acute and chronic spinal and extremity disorders. His main clinical focus is in sports injuries and rehabilitation. He is a certified in Cox flexion/distraction and has attended post-graduate seminars in Chiropractic Biophysics, Activator Methods and Active Release Technique.

Dr. Paul Abend is a Physiatrist, which means he specializes in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. As the pioneering mind behind Performance Rehabilitation's Neuropathy and Balance Center, Dr. Abend has integrated Micro Vas Therapy more completely into the practice for the treatment of all types of neuropathies. His clinical focus is on non-surgical spinal treatments, sports injury and neuropathies.

Dr. Joseph Mejia is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R), also called Physiatry. His fellowship training is in interventional pain management. Dr. Mejia completed his residency at NYU/Rusk Institute of Rehabilitation; he also received fellowship training in Interventional Pain/Musculoskeletal Medicine at UMDNJ/Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation.
