Dr. Gary M Kawesch MD is the owner, Medical Director, and board certified surgical ophthalmologist at the Laser Eye Center of Silicon Valley, San Jose, California, and the Laser Eye Center of the East Bay, Pleasanton, California. He has performed over 35,000 refractive surgeries and is considered a leader in the Bay Area and Northern California for LASIK and various other advanced vision correction techniques.

Dr. Kawesch’s educational qualifications are one of the best in his field. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Summa Cum Laude from Yale University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in molecular biophysics and biochemistry. He received high honors for academic excellence at the University of California at Los Angeles, School of Medicine. He served his internship at the Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, California and his residency in ophthalmology at the Jules Stein Eye Institute, University of California at Los Angeles.

After starting his career as an expert in refractive surgery for RK (radial keratotomy), AK (astigmatic keratotomy) and ALK (automated lamellar keratoplasty), Dr. Kawesch opened one of the first laser facilities in the East Bay.

Dr. Kawesch is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the International Society of Refractive Surgery.
