I am a pediatrician and in my work, I have to bend down a lot and I'm constantly lifting kids. I usually have one to three bad flare ups of low back pain every year. When my back would "go out", I could barely walk to the bathroom and would have to lie down in bed for a few days. I have tried everything: doing nothing and "toughing it out", muscle relaxants, physical therapy, chiropractic, therapeutic massage, and even painful steroid injections. Nothing worked.

I went to Dr. Donath's office with a great deal of skepticism. I had been through four epidurals within a three month period with no results. I had a large herniated disc at L5-S1, spinal stenosis and degenerative disc disease throughout my lumbar spine. I was told by two different surgeons that surgery was my only option. Being apprehensive of spinal surgery, I thought I would have to live with this constant sciatic pain. I was taking up to 10 Vicodin a day with little or no effect on the pain and had to use a cane to help me walk.

I read an article in the daily paper about spinal decompression and after researching on the internet, I contacted Dr. Donath for a consult. At that point, I felt I had nothing else to lose. As it turned out, it has proven to be a great decision. After treatment with Dr. Donath, I am resuming my daily activities and I'm back to a normal lifestyle. In March of this year I accompanied my wife to her appointment with Dr. Donath. This coincidental meeting changed my life. At that time I had scheduled an appointment to see a back surgeon about my chronic back pain. Dr. Donath spoke to me about an alternative to surgery called Spinal Decompression Therapy. I had a herniated disc in my neck at section C-6-7 which was impinging on my nerve on the left side. I had numbness in my left arm/hand and severe pain in my neck and left shoulder. I had tried many other treatments. I had 3 deep injections by a pain specialist. I had seen two different spine surgeons who both recommended that I have surgery to remove the disc in my neck. I had also tried physical therapy and nothing worked. I wanted to let you know how pleased I am that I came to your practice back in November of 2007. As you know, I had been suffering for a number of months from what I thought was a reoccurrence of some nerve pain that was from surgery I had back in 1975. The pain in my legs was waking me up at night, keeping me awake and my legs were very weak to the point that walking was slow and painful.

At the suggestion of my spouse, I came to you to seek out an alternative treatment that might be able to give me relief. After meeting with you and discussing the alternatives, I decided to move forward with the spinal decompression. Because of the pain I was in I put my faith in you that this could make a significant difference in not only how I felt, but with my overall body motion. After I had the MRI, you were able to focus on the source of the pain, which was actually a new ruptured disc...not from my older injury.

Even though it took a bit longer to get to the point that I knew I was getting some relief, I am glad I stuck it out! Today, I am 99% better, with almost all of the pain from my legs gone. I have a much better range of motion, am stronger and resumed skiing and playing golf. I can say that without this treatment I would have not been where I am today. After intense pain in my shoulder and neck area escalated to a point where I not only could not move my neck, but I also could not function, I decided to see Dr. Donath as a "walk in." Wary of stories I had heard about chiropractors, but unwilling to simply medicate the pain away, I chose Dr. Donath because of the reputed quality of Full Circle Family Care Center where he practices.

After only one session, I was able to move my neck and most of the pain disappeared. Subsequent treatments eliminated my pain completely and I now only see Dr. Donath every six weeks for a "tune up."
