Chiropractic Adjustment/Alignment of the Spine
Gentle contacts and manipulations are performed in specific sequence to ease the bones of the spine back into proper position. This realigning of the spine relieves obstruction of the nerve system, returns the body to a natural state and alleviates pain.
A gentle, non-invasive therapy, decompression uses cyclical, painless stretching to reduce pressure, promote circulation, and improve healing naturally. Decompression effectively relieves debilitating neck, arm, leg and low back pain and has also proven successful in treating pain associated with degenerative discs, herniated discs and carpal tunnel syndrome.
A low-level laser therapy, the Cold Laser penetrates tissue to reduce pain and muscle spasm while improving metabolism, circulation and tissue healing. Cold laser also provides an anti-inflammatory effect that has proven helpful in treating chronic and acute conditions from simple sprains and strains to disc herniations and carpal tunnel syndrome.
Spinal discs depend on the circulation of fluids surrounding spinal joints to provide the nutrition they need for good health. When this circulation is blocked, discs can thin and degenerate. Intersegmental traction is a comfortable, relaxing therapy that applies mild stretches to muscles, ligaments and tissue to help restore circulation, elasticity of the spine and range of motion.
Activator Methods Technique®
In Activator therapy, the doctor uses a small handheld instrument to deliver quick, precise, low-force adjustments to correct subluxations or spinal misalignments. This safe, comfortable technique allows the doctor to help restore your spinal balance and health.
Antioxidant Nutritional Testing
Antioxidants play a crucial role in protecting cells and tissues from the damage of free radicals. This non-invasive test allows the doctor to measure your antioxidant status and recommend an effective treatment program to help you achieve optimum health.
Cold packs, ice, compresses and ice massage may be applied to the injured area to reduce swelling and inflammation and promote healing.
Hot packs, infrared heat, and ultrasound therapies may be used to improve circulation and aid the cycle of healing.
Lifestyle & Exercise Counseling
Is the patient sedentary? Athletic? Are there small children at home? What are the physical requirements of the patient's job? These are just a few of the questions doctors may ask to explore a patient's lifestyle demands. The goal is to evaluate potential for injury and identify appropriate stretching and strengthening exercises to help prevent re-injury and promote general wellness. Nutritional counseling may also be provided.
Muscle Stimulation/Interferential Current
Muscle stimulation is most often used to treat conditions such as muscle sprains, strains and spasms. Tiny electrical impulses are given to reduce pain and swelling in soft tissues surrounding areas of acute and chronic pain. The impulses increase blood circulation and stimulate the body's natural painkillers to provide drug-free relief to the patient.
Muscles strained from injury or overuse may cause swelling, soreness and decreased circulation of the soft tissue. This can compress nerve endings resulting in painful spasms. Using soft tissue manipulation techniques, our therapists apply concentrated pressure on trigger points of pain and passive stretching of specific muscles. Once circulation is restored, you should experience increased strength and flexibility of the injured area.
Nutritional counseling appointments are available in office or by phone. Nutritional supplements are also available. All of our programs consist of high quality nutritional lines, which can be shipped directly to your location.
Physiotherapy focuses on restoring function, improving mobility and relieving pain associated with temporary or long-term physical disabilities. Physiotherapy usually includes prescribed exercises, electrical stimulation, hot or cold compresses, ultrasound, traction and/or deep-tissue massage to relieve pain. Patients undergoing physiotherapy receive continuous re-examinations and therapy is adjusted according to their progress.
Many patients with joint injuries of the ankle, knee, shoulder and lower back require additional therapy to achieve full recovery. Rehabilitative exercise is used to strengthen the joint, lessen the risk of the re-injury and aide in the proper healing of the injured area.
Surface EMG is a device that measures the amount of electrical activity in muscles when they contract; it's similar to an EKG for the heart. Like x-rays and other diagnostic tools, the EMG gives doctors a better view into the body's health and allows them to more appropriately design effective treatment programs for patients.
Thermography is a diagnostic workup that analyzes the central nervous system by measuring the heat coming from the body. It provides visual and quantitative documentation of these temperature measurements, revealing information about the normal and abnormal functioning of the sensory and sympathetic nervous systems, vascular dysfunction, myofascial trauma and local inflammatory processes.
