Robert W. Schrier, M.D. has achieved much in his medical career. He was the former chairman of the department of medicine in the University Of Colorado School Of Medicine for 26 years and head of the Division of Kidney diseases and Hypertension for 20 years. He has been president of the association of American physicians, American society of nephrology, national kidney foundation and international society of nephrology. Dr. Shrier has authorized over 900 scientific papers and edited 50 bucks in internal medicine, geriatrics, and drug usage and kidney disease.
His research focuses on the pathogenesis of acute kidney failure, genetic kidney disorders, and mechanisms of kidney cell injury, diabetic nephropathy and kidney and hormonal control of body fluid volume. This has resulted in the advancement of a world renowned hypothesis of sodium and water regulation in health and disease.
He has received many honorary degrees from universities such as: DePauw University, University of Colorado, University of Silesia and medical College of Ohio.
He has received the highest awards of the American college of physicians, national kidney foundation, American society of nephrology, western society of clinical investigation, Association of professors of medicine, American kidney fund, and many others. Today he is a professor of medicine and continues to advance the understanding of the human body.
