Breast Ultrasound and Core Biopsy Bronxville, Westchester County, New York

Breast cancer is a serious problem among American women. As a preventative measure, women should have regular ultrasounds and biopsy's (if necessary). If you live in the Bronxville area, Lawrence Hospital Medical Imaging Center provides quality care and will answer any question or concern you have about these procedures. They understand the anxiety that comes with having these tests, which is why they strive to bring your results as fast as possible with accuracy.

Breast ultrasound (or sonography) is an imaging technique for diagnosing breast disease, such as cancer. It uses harmless, high frequency sound waves to form an image (sonogram). The sound waves pass through the breast and bounce back or echo from various tissues to form a picture of the internal structures. This imaging technique is non-invasive and does not use radiation. If something out of the ordinary is found, a core biopsy may be done. A piece of breast tissue is removed in a biopsy. This tissue is then examined by a specialist for cancerous cells.
