Arthritis is a painful condition that affects your joints. It can cause swelling, stiffness, or even changes in the bone structure around the joints. Arthritis has many causes and symptoms. Rheumatoid arthritis tends to affect older people and it may be due to an auto-immune process where the body attacks itself. Osteoarthritis is caused by overuse of a particular joint; runners may get this type of arthritis in their knees and ankles. While conventional medicine and prescription drugs work to manage joint pain in many people, the New Hope Medical Center offers natural alternatives such as herbs and vitamins. This approach has been shown to be effective in relieving the joint pain associated with arthritis, saving patients from the synthetic chemicals found in prescription drugs and over the counter pain medication.
