Optimal Men

The goal of Optimal Men is to help men at every stage of life to live the best life possible. Feeling well as a young man is natural. However, as you age, decade by decade, you face a growing  realization that good health is no longer guaranteed. You may begin to feel tired, bored and depressed because your life is missing the energy and exuberance of youth.

For too long the mainstream healthcare community accepted these states (as well as the diseases of aging) as normal – just the realities of getting older. At Optimal Men, we have a different philosophy. We expect men of every age to live a full and vibrant life.  To learn more about how we accomplish that goal, and what it can mean in your own life, call Optimal Men to request a consultation today.

Test, Treat, Train
Our philosophy is Test, Treat and Train.

  1. Test to reveal your present overall health status.
  2. Treat any issues revealed.
  3. Train you to live a better life by offering concrete strategies and programs that can change your health, your future and how you feel.

First, we run a battery of tests that determine the total compass of your health. We offer some of the most advanced non-invasive diagnostic tests available. Each is a snapshot of your health. Our goal is to eventually evaluate all 14 systems of the body, determining your present health baseline – whether it is cardiovascular, neurology, endocrinology, musculoskeletal, et al.  We will then establish your baseline. We will also be on the lookout for preliminary markers of the most common diseases that affect men. The goal is to not only to make you feel better, but to interdict and change the outcome of potential problems before they become serious.

Some of the most common health issues that affect men as they age are:

Cardiovascular Disease:

  1. Heart disease is the leading cause of death for men in the United States, responsible for 1 in every 4 male deaths.
  2. Even if you have no symptoms, you may be at risk. About 50% of all men who have sudden death from coronary disease had no previous symptoms.

Lung Cancer:

  1. Lung Cancer is the leading cause of death from cancer death in men.
  2. About 1 in 13 men (smokers and non-smokers combined) will develop lung cancer in their lifetime.

Prostate Problems:

  1. Other than skin cancer, prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men. Over 15% will be diagnosed with the disease in their lifetime.
  2. 50 percent of men ages 60 and older, and an estimated 90 percent of men ages 70 and older, have an enlarged prostate.

Depression:

  1. Men have similar rates of depression as women.
  2. When traditional and alternative symptoms (such as aggression and sleep problems) are included, up to 1/3 of all men meet the criteria for depression at some point in their lives.

Diabetes:

  1. 13.0 million men have diabetes (11.8 percent of all men ages 20 years and older). Type 2 diabetes accounts for 90 to 95 percent of diabetes.
  2. Type 2 diabetes can be a silent killer – with symptoms that are often not reported to a physician until the problem is well-advanced.
