Elliot R. Goodman, MD - Bariatric Surgeon


Dr. Elliot Goodman is a Bariatric Surgeon, and has been on the Medical Staff of Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City since 2004. Dr.Goodman is currently on the Surgical Faculty of Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Previously, he was the Chief of Bariatric Surgery at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, New York. Born in England, Dr. Goodman did his undergraduate work at Cambridge University, where he also attended Medical School. Upon his arrival in the US in 1990, he trained in surgery at Maimonides Medical Center, Brooklyn, NY from 1990 to 1996. Dr. Goodman spent two years as a research fellow at Columbia University working with Mark Hardy, MD, in the field of cellular transplantation and immunology. During his fellowship, he presented his findings at various national and international meetings and published his work in many peer-reviewed journals. From 1997 to 1999, he was on the faculty of the New Jersey Medical School and was the co-director of the University Institute for the Surgery of Morbid Obesity in Newark, NJ.

Dr Goodman is an active member of the American Society of Bariatric Surgery. He lectures throughout the country on the topic of obesity surgery and trains surgeons in techniques of bariatric surgery from all over the USA. Dr. Goodman's other professional membership include: the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity, Association of Academic Surgeons, Surgical Infection Society, Shock Society, and the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma.
