Incontinence Kansas City, KS

Has incontinence become an embarrassing problem? Is it hindering your social life and making you feel less confident and adept at work? Help stop your incontinence with a caring team of well trained doctors. The KU Women's Health Specialty Centers in Kansas City has an experienced team of doctors who may help you with this problem.

Incontinence occurs when the body loses control of excretory functions. This most often occurs when surrounding muscles atrophy or lose ability to function properly. There are many different types of incontinence, such as stress, urge, and functional. Treatment plans begin with screening to find the source of the problem. Doctors perform urinary tests, ultrasound, and other tests. After the tests are completed, there are a variety of treatment plans available. Some of these include strengthening muscles, as in vaginal cone therapy and electrotherapy, or medication to control excretory functions.

The KU Women's Health Specialty Centers also provide services for:
- High-risk pregnancy
- Pelvic pain
- Menopause
- Incontinence
- Infertility
- Infertility preservation

The KU Women's Health Specialty Centers consist of a dedicated team of physicians whose skills have been vetted by the University of Kansas Medical Center. Services are provided at two locations, one at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, KS, and the other in a private facility in Overland Park, KS. The medical practice has four areas of specialization:
- The Center for Advanced Fetal Care is the only such center in the region that provides on-site treatment for a range of complex fetal diseases. Patients can get multiple problems addressed at one convenient location.
- The Center for Advanced Reproductive Medicine offers the most advanced assisted reproductive technologies for both males and females, including fertility preservation for women who, through either medical treatment or the aging process, face sterility.
- The Center for Gynecologic Ultrasound provides a full range of women's ultrasound imaging.
- The Obstetrics and Gynecology Division provides a complete range of services for primary women's health care.

At the KU Women's Health Specialty Centers, patients receive the attention and care of a small office with all the resources of a large academic facility, so that their needs can be taken care of on site and immediately.
