Breast Cancer Screening New Rochelle

Mammogram is a form of x ray that allows doctors to visualize the inside of the breast. It is extremely effective at early cancer detection and general guidelines suggest that women have mammograms every one to two years after 40, and then annually after age 50. For some women in higher risk groups, including those with family history, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) may be useful as an adjunct. This technology allows doctors to visualize breast masses earlier than mammogram. MRI may also be used for planning prior to breast surgery. Computerized Tomography, or CT, is another imaging technique that is used for pre surgical planning. Together, mammogram, CT, and MRI work to detect and fight breast cancer.
