He received a Bachelor of Science from Penn State University and an M.D. from The Chicago Medical School for the first steps towards becoming a surgeon. He completed an internship at Bellevue Hospital in New York City and went on to two residencies, one in New York and one in Montreal. The first was for general surgery and the second one specifically was for plastic surgery.
