LASIK is not invasive and the patient’s eyes are temporarily relaxed while they lie awake for the duration of the surgery. The Laser Eye Center also treats patients with PRK surgery. PRK also entails temporarily relaxing the eyes. The cornea is reshaped with energy pulses and the treatment is generally done in less than two minutes. After the surgery, medical contact lenses may be prescribed for 2-5 days to safeguard the eyes while they recover.
