Lasik surgery stands for "Laser in situ keratomileusis" and, quite simply stated, it involves an ophthalmologist or an eye MD, creating a partial [thickness lamellar corneal] flap on the cornea, and beneath that flap uses a second laser to reshape the surface of the cornea to improve the focus of the eye.
