Women between the ages of 30 and 40 are advised to have a doctor examine their breasts once a year and those older than 40 are advised to conduct annual mammograms. Other factors that significantly reduce breast cancer risk are daily exercise, balanced diet, quitting smoking and limiting the intake of alcohol. Avoiding the risk factors of breast cancer and improving protective factors may lower its intensity but it may not completely eliminate the chance of someone falling prey to the condition.
