Dr. Jesus Perez speaks about Stem Cell therapy at The Regenerative Medicine Institute.

Stem Cell Therapy & Chronic Heart Failure

The role of stem cell therapy for the treatment of chronic heart failure is emerging as one of the first acheivable goals of modern medical research. For more information on these exciting developments visit the website of the National Institue of Health

The Regnerative Medicine Institue has formed a partnerhsip with BioHeart Inc. The BioHeart technologies bring the most advanced stem cell therapies to heart patients today. The potential of these treatments are just beginning to be realized.

A recent independent 2010 report in the European Journal of Heart Failure discusses the first large scale study of patients with chronic heart failure. The study was conducted by, Bodo-Eckehard Strauer, of Heinrich Heine University of Düsseldorf, Germany.

Strauer and his colleagues initially approached 391 patients with long-term chronic heart failure (resulting from a heart attack) to participate in the study -- 191 agreed to receive an autologous bone marrow stem cell infusion and 200 declined the stem cells but agreed to participate as controls to measure against.

Perhaps the most startling result was that after 5 years only seven of the 191 treated patients had died versus 32 of the 200 untreated participants. The treated patients showed significant improved heart function within the first few months that was sustained throughout the course of the study. In addition, follow-up studies showed that treated patients had a significant improvement in quality of life against the control group.

Adult Stem Cell therapy is an exciting break through therapeutic approach to managing health. Physicians world-wide acknowledge that stem cell therapies will revolutionize medicine in the coming years. However, Stem Cell therapy is considered a controversial treatment in some medical and regulatory circles, as the research and clinical trials are still in their infancy. As a result Regenerative Medicine Institute can and does not make any specific claims to the medical efficacy or safety of stem cell therapies that are offered.

All potential patients should consult with their own physician about stem cell therapy. The Regenerative Medicine Institute screens all patients and only accepts those that it feels would benefit from Stem Cell treatments. However, each patient is unique and no results can be guaranteed.

The Regenerative Medicine Institute will provide continuing updates, information on current research on stem cell therapeutics and research, helping patients and their consulting physicians make their own informed decisions on whether or not to pursue treatment.
